Hogs on the Horizon: Around the World with Arkansas Students

Halfway through college week and we cannot get enough of it! We have had so much fun being able to share student stories and the love they have for their time abroad, but we're not done yet. Today at LeadAbroad we're screaming "WOO PIG" because for day three of college week we are featuring the University of Arkansas! With over 90 students joining us overseas from Fayetteville, Arkansas, it was a no brainer that we go show their college town some love this fall and pay them a visit.

Our Arkansas students bring on the adventure and there is no doubt about it! Seeing students embrace their programs to the fullest truly enhances their experience abroad. Emma Homer, a 2nd year student on our LEAD Cape Town program, felt that by taking every opportunity during her trip, she was able to find herself in the truest form in a way she never thought possible. "This program not only taught me about the culture of South Africa, but also how to push myself out of my comfort zone, what my values are, how to make the best out of life, and so much about myself that I never knew! Two months ago, I had no idea how this trip would give me once in a life time experiences and a complete new outlook on life." The growth students experience during their time abroad is inspiring. Being able to foster self-confidence, independence, resilience, and true admiration for life and its many gifts is one of the biggest takeaways we hope every student feels.

Watching friendships transform from strangers to bonds between best friends in a matter of weeks is another part of what makes LeadAbroad programs so special. Even if you don't know a single soul going on your program, many students are in the same boat and want to build relationships with fellow students, whether it's from the same college town or one hours away! Shelby Cook, a 2nd year student who joined us on our PRO Costa Rica program last summer, shared what special friendships she was able to make authentically while abroad. "I met my best friends. I was the only person from Arkansas that went on this session, and I didn't know a single person going on the trip but these people were such fast and forever friends." Shelby joined us again this year as an Intern on PRO Costa Rica. If you're looking for fellow Arkansas students to study abroad with or are hoping to meet new people from all over the country, then LeadAbroad is the place for you!

If you'd like to travel the globe with fellow students from your college town and others, be sure to join our 2025 priority list! Today, Arkansas students will have priority, and now is the PERFECT time to secure your spot to join our adventures abroad next summer. We love sharing student stories and hope to be able to share yours soon! WOOO PIGGY!
